About My Photography/Tuition
I have taught art and design for over 30 years in Darlington. I trained in Fine Art and completed an Education Degree in 1977. The ICT revolution in education rekindled my interest in photography and I purchased my first DSLR almost 2 years ago. Since then I have spent most weekends in the field making photographs of those locations where I used to walk and fish. During the course of the week many more hours have been spent storing and editing images. I have been fortunate enough to stage 2 exhibitions, the first at The Houndgate Cafe/Gallery and the second at Darlington Arts Centre. These generated a number of sales and I am grateful to those people who purchased my work. Three pieces of work have featured in National Publications and one piece is presently part of a nationwide touring exhibition organised by Snap Britain. Some of my coastal photographs presently illustrate publications from Durham Conty Council promoting the Durham Heritage Coast.
Almouth Yacht NOFT 11 - (see Northumberland Coastline Gallery on my website) was shortlisted for the competition - Landscape Photographer of the Year 2009.
Blackhall Rocks DHC 3 - (see Durham Coast Gallery on my website) h as been shortlisted to represent images from the North East in the National Competion - Great British Photograhy Competition which has received 36,000 entries.
My work frequently appears in the Living North magazine an excellent publication which promotes our region. Six of my images feature in the November Edition.
An exhibition of 15 of my photographs is on show at Brown's Cafe, Grange Road, Darlington. The cafe is tastefully decorated and provides an excellent choice of breakfast, lunch and evening meals. My business card and contact information is available on the premises.. Please see accompanying images.
