Still water brings its own fascinations in the form of reflections which present opportunities for symmetry and balance to the composition. These moments are rare as very often conditions cause surface movement. The majority of large areas of fresh water in the region are reservoirs and usually occur in the upper regions presenting dramatic backdrops. There are still many I intend to photograph and look forward to these future ventures. It is interesting to search out still water sites using Ordnance Survey maps and Google Earth. Some of the smaller locations such as Crag Pond and Fish Lake were discovered this way.
